No written music is provided for this workshop, so a recording device is highly recommended. 3:00-4:30 - COMPOSING IN A TRADITIONAL STYLE with William Jackson What makes a new composition sound traditional? This is a comprehensive look at the structure of traditional music and the modes and rhythms used from Gaelic song, strathspeys to jigs and reels. Learn how to use a simple chord progression as the basis for developing melodic ideas and then expand these melodic ideas into a larger work. Come and learn from the masters of Celtic harp! Cost is $30 for one workshop or $50 for both. Workshops will be held in Montecito and space is limited to 12 harpers so reply to this email immediately to sign up.
